Family Umrah Packages from Pakistan: What to Look for in 2026
Last updated: 26 June 2026
Family Umrah is one of our most common bookings. A typical Pakistani family of 5 (two parents, three children) faces a fundamentally different planning challenge than a single pilgrim. Hotel room sharing, separate prayer-time logistics for women, child-friendly meals, wheelchair access for elders, and the logistics of moving everyone between Madinah and Makkah safely — all of it adds up. Here's what to look for.
What a complete family Umrah package includes
- Visa — Saudi Umrah visa for every family member, including infants
- Airfare — Round trip from Lahore / Islamabad / Karachi to Madinah and back from Jeddah (or vice versa)
- Hotel in Madinah — 3–5 nights, ideally within 200–400m of Masjid al-Nabawi
- Hotel in Makkah — 7–10 nights, ideally within 300–600m of Masjid al-Haram (Ajyad / Misfalah / Shisha areas)
- Ground transport — Jeddah/Madinah airport → hotel; Madinah → Makkah (4–5 hour journey); Makkah → airport
- Ziyarat tours — usually 1 in Madinah (Quba, Uhud, Qiblatain) and 1 in Makkah (Cave Hira, Cave Thawr, Arafat, Mina)
- Meals — breakfast included is standard; full board is upgraded
- Mu'allim ground services in Saudi
- Group leader who travels with you from Pakistan
- Pre-departure briefing in Urdu/Pashto/Punjabi
Typical 2026 PKR pricing for a family of 4
Per-person rates × 4 give you a useful benchmark. These are realistic ranges for non-Ramadan, non-Hajj-adjacent months:
| Package Tier | Per Person | Family of 4 Total |
|---|---|---|
| Economy (3-star, 500m+ from Haram) | PKR 240,000 – 290,000 | PKR 960,000 – 1,160,000 |
| Standard (4-star, 200–400m from Haram) | PKR 320,000 – 390,000 | PKR 1,280,000 – 1,560,000 |
| Premium (5-star, within 100–200m, view of Haram) | PKR 480,000 – 700,000 | PKR 1,920,000 – 2,800,000 |
Ramadan and December packages can be 60–100% above these rates.
Child pricing and policies
- Infants (0–2): Most airlines charge 10% of adult fare, no airline seat. Saudi visa is full price. Hotel sharing free.
- Children (2–11): Airline charges 75% of adult fare, hotel shares parents' room without extra bed for ~PKR 30,000–50,000 discount, separate visa.
- Adults (12+): Full price.
Hotel proximity — the single biggest comfort factor
For a family, hotel distance from the Haram matters more than star rating. A 5-star at 800m means walking 1.6 km round-trip for every prayer, in 35°C+ heat — children and elders won't manage. A 3-star at 200m means a 2-minute walk and the ability to return between prayers to rest.
The closest Pakistani-friendly hotels in Makkah are clustered in three zones:
- Ajyad — south of the Haram, 200–400m. Mostly 3–4 star, mid-range.
- Misfalah — south-west, 300–600m. Many 4-star options, slight uphill walk back.
- Abraj Al-Bait / Clock Tower complex — directly above the Haram. 5-star only. PKR 800,000+ per person for a week.
In Madinah, the best Pakistani-family hotels are in the Central Area (Markaziya), within 200–500m of Masjid al-Nabawi.
Warning signs of a 'cheap' package hiding costs
- 'Visa included' without specifying type — sometimes refers to a tourist visa that won't permit Umrah easily
- Hotel name not specified, only star rating — agents reserve the right to assign you a far hotel
- 'Buffet meals' but only breakfast actually included — read the fine print
- Transport 'in Saudi only' — meaning you arrange your own Pakistani airport transfer
- 'Group of 35–50' — too large for comfortable bus transport, hotel check-in delays
- No named Pakistani group leader — you'll be handed to a Saudi Mu'allim who may not speak Urdu
What to ask before paying the deposit
- Which hotel exactly? (Insist on the name, not just the star rating.)
- How many metres from the Haram?
- Which floor will my family be assigned? (Lower floors are louder; higher floors require working elevators during peak crowds.)
- Is the room a triple or quad? Or are we expected to take two rooms?
- Who is my Pakistani group leader?
- What happens if my flight is delayed and I miss the Saudi onward bus?
- What is the cancellation policy if a family member falls ill?
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring infants on a family Umrah package?
Yes. Infants (under 2) need a passport, a Saudi visa (most agencies process this), and meningococcal vaccination if old enough (typically from 6 months). Airline infant fare is around 10% of adult, no separate seat. Most hotels share infant cot free of charge.
Is wheelchair access available throughout the Umrah journey?
Yes. Most modern Makkah and Madinah hotels are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs can be rented at the Haram entrances for SAR 100–200 (with a deposit), and dedicated paved tracks for wheelchair Tawaf are clearly marked. Sa'i can also be performed in wheelchair.
What's the minimum age for a child to perform Umrah?
There is no minimum age. Even infants can be 'made' to perform Umrah by their guardian — the parent declares Niyyah on their behalf and carries them through Tawaf and Sa'i. Most families wait until at least age 7 so the child remembers the experience and can understand the rites.
Do family rooms with 4 beds exist in Makkah hotels?
Yes, but they're limited. Most Pakistani-family-friendly hotels in Ajyad and Misfalah offer triple and quad rooms. Quad rooms book out 3+ months in advance for Ramadan, peak Eid, and December travel. Always reserve early.
What should children pack differently from adults for Umrah?
Comfortable walking shoes (Crocs are popular for kids), refillable water bottles, snacks they're familiar with for hotel rooms, basic medicines (paracetamol syrup, ORS, anti-fever), a small entertainment item for the flight, and unscented soap/toothpaste for the Ihram period (children old enough for Ihram).
